This is my Entry for the June Contest over at ~ThatTime
The contest is to draw Inuyasha and the Gang at a Summer Festival

I chose Tanabata, the Star Festival.
It was originally a Chinese festival, knowns as Qi Xi. It celebrates the meeting of Orihime [Vega] and Hikoboshi [Altair]. It is said that the Milky Way is a river separates these two lovers but they are allowed to meet only once a year - July 7th.
People in Japan celebrate by decorating bamboo leaves and they write their wishes on paper and hang them on the leaves. It is said that Orihime and Hikoboshi would make their dreams come true. Having been decorated, around midnight or on the next day, the bamboo tree is thrown into a river or burned to make them come true.



So, Kagome has a piece of paper with "Love" written on it. The stars in the light purple circle has the same symbol.

When I began drawing the picture I thought of a conversation between the two of them:
Inuyasha : What's this thing supposed to do?
Kagome : You write your wish on this paper.
Inuyasha : Think I'll come true?
Kagome : ...it already has




The sketch took a couple of hours. I redrew the lines as Vectors [which I normally don't do so it took longer than usual] and it took about 4½ hours to complete the lines. [if you saw the sketch, you'll notice Kagome is shorter] Coloring and background took about 6 hours.

The background is Art Nouveau inspired. I think the Inuyasha Logo looks good with it too.
